Teeth Whitening Gum

Another really popular teeth whitening product on the shelves is teeth whitening gum. Isn’t it perfect? The #1 snack food would actually have benefits ? You can take it anywhere, use is anywhere, do something you already enjoy and get a brighter smile ? I know you’re hopping this could work, but here are the facts :

The composition is like a normal gum ( softening agents, flavorants, sweeteners and other ingredients) plus whitening agents : water soluble sodium or potassium percarbonate, neem oil, sodium bicarbonate and parsley extract.. The sodium percarbonate releases hydrogen peroxide when in contact with the saliva. Manufacturers will tell you that to get the whitening benefits from the gum, you would need to chew one many times a week for several weeks.

Unfortunately, if you expect a real change in the color of your teeth, you will be disappointed. The whitening ingredients are there in the gum, but to get a true whitening effect, the product needs to be spread evenly directly on the teeth and left there for an amount of time. Not what happens when you chew a gum ! The whitening is technically possible, but leave your comments below if it worked for you ! I didn’t find any reviews, except from manufacturers. And if it does bleach your teeth at all, you will only get a fraction of what you can get with a real whitening system.

Nevertheless, gum with teeth whitening agents is not dangerous, it is completely safe. If you can afford the extra pennies, and you already enjoy chewing gum anyway, then yes ! Go ahead ! This gum is in the same category as teeth bleaching mouthwash and toothpaste. You can use it to help maintain the bleach effect after a real teeth bleaching treatment. But if you want a noticeable change, you will be disappointed.
